Five-Minute Makeup

How To :
- Choose a concealer that blends well with your skin and contains moisturizer so it won’t crease under the eye or in eyelids. Apply several dots under the eyes and blend with a concealer brush or sponge.
- Use a large brush to sweep powder all over your face to set your makeup and create a shine-free, even finish.
- Use a soft blush brush to sweep blush onto the apples of your cheeks.
- Starting at the base of your eyelashes, gently wiggle the mascara wand upwards. Repeat.
- omplete the look with a coat of sheer, pink or peachy gloss.

    How to tightline your eyes

    How to tightline your eyes

Tightlining your eyes (also known as the "invisible eye liner") is a great way to add a subtle definition to your eyes. Instead of lining the skin above your lashes, you line between the lash line. This method is perfect for any casual or fancy occasion, and is super easy to master. Keep reading to learn how to tightline your eyes!

Using clean fingers, gently lift your lashes upward (this step is only necessary if you find it easier to tightline). You'll see tiny gaps between your lash hairs, which you'll be filling in with eye liner.

Using your eyeliner (we found that the Too Faced 3 Way Lash Lining Tool makes this task super easy!), lightly dab the eye liner in between each individual lash (as close to the root as possible), to fill in your lash line and make it look fuller.

    You've officially tightlined your eyes!

If you'd like to intensify the look, tightline your bottom lash line as well. It's the same concept as the top, but you'll be filling in the space between your lower lashes.

3 Things You Need to Know Before Going to The Hair Salon

3 Things You Need to Know Before Going to The Hair Salon

Most of us don’t speak hairdresser, so here are some salon tips direct from the pros, for getting the most out of your visit.
“The day you cut your bangs is the day you start growing them out! Meaning, they’re a lifestyle change… Bangs dramatically change the way you look and truthfully, some women are rarely satisfied with them the way they had imagined. Upkeep and letting them grow out is a timely process. You have to decide whether it’s worth your while.” Michael Canale
“Don’t try to use salon lingo every salon uses its own terms! So what works in one salon may mean something different in another salon. The best way to get what you want is to just ask for it in layman’s terms. Your own language in your own words so you can describe exactly what you want…. and bring pictures!” Celebrity colorist and salon owner Rita Hazan

“We love it when our clients bring in pictures from the runways and red carpets for us to recreate. That is our specialty recreating the most up to date looks for our clients, whether it is a braid, up do, blowout, makeup, or a fun manicure. When we can see what the customer is envisioning, not just have them describe it, we can make sure they leave happy!” Jessica Jekkel

    Skin Ruining Habits

    Forgetting your neck and chest:
The skin on your neck and chest is just as important as your face, and equally as delicate. “Any anti-aging product you use on your face should also be used on your neck and chest!” says plastic surgeon Dr. Joseph Rucker.

    Picking pimples:
There are many reasons for not picking pimples. It can lead to scarring of the face and if aggressive enough, you will end up with pock marks or hyperpigmentation (dark spots) on your face. “At the very least you will scab your face which is more difficult to hide with makeup than the original blemish,” says Gabriela Santana-Blackburn, Executive Director of Esthetics and Teacher Training at Tricoci University of Beauty Culture.

All that pressure on a pimple that is not ready to be extracted can lead to a rupture below the skin surface, which in turn will lead to more breakouts. This can turn into a vicious circle that will lead to your skin never being clear of the problem. You are better off leaving this to professionals who know how to extract properly without the adverse effects.

    Over-exfoliating:
Exfoliation is a wonderful thing for your skin but too much of a good thing is definitely bad. Over-exfoliating can lead to irritated and flaking skin. This makes putting on makeup a nightmare and can also lead to sensitivity issue. “Sometimes our guests can’t get the facial they need or want because their skin is simply too sensitized and everything burns. We have to soothe the skin and get them to stop exfoliating so that we can do more,” says Santana-Blackburn. Exfoliating at home is best done no more than a couple of times a week using a scrub (with smooth beads and not rough ground shells) or a gentle enzyme or acid peel.

Resting your chin on your hand:
Over time, this can lead to sagging, fine lines and wrinkles. Practice good posture and avoid the chin rest.

    Sleeping on your face:
This habit can cause unwanted fine lines and wrinkles so always try to fall asleep on your back to avoid unsightly lines that could have been prevented.

Licking and nibbling on your lips:
Dry lips are uncomfortable, but licking your lips is not the best solution. Saliva dries, taking any natural moisture with it, says Dr. Schlessinger. The result is dry, cracked and chapped skin.

    Watch the blow-drier:
Extreme heat from the blow-drier can leave you with broken capillaries, which can become permanently broken over time, says Dr. Rucker.

    Sleeping in makeup:
No matter how tired we are after a long day at work or going out with friends, it is really important to take the time to care for your skin at night. If you have an acne/ oily skin, it is imperative to wash away all that excess oil that your skin produced during the day – not to mention all the makeup that was applied and worn during the day which can lead to clogged pores. You also want to wash away all of the pollutants that skin is exposed to during the day – this is especially important to maintaining youthful skin.

For this gorgeous look, match your lip stain to your cream blush color (or just make things really easy by using the lip stain on your cheeks, too!). The rose-berry color of this stain gives your lips the pop of life they need in the summer.

Try Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint in Enchanted to nail this look at home.

This reddish tint is the beginner’s way to get into red lipstick, or the sheer way to wear the look during the summer. Whether you pair it with a bit of eye makeup or keep the rest of your face au naturel, this lip stain is one for every girl’s makeup bag.

Get your hands on Revlon’s ColorStay Moisture Stain in New York Scene for this lip color.

The universally flattering lip color, this light berry color works to give you that “your lips, but better” look every time. Plus, swipe the same color onto your cheeks and you’re ready to go.

Your best bet for this color is Josie Maran’s Magic Marker Lip & Cheek Stain in Waltz.

A subtle citrusy-pink color on the lips can give you the illusion of being bronzed by the sun (without any of the harmful rays). When you’re going for a more full-on face at night, add a bit of shimmering bronze eyeshadow to really pull the look together.

For this lip color, mix the Sephora Collection Glossy Lip Pencils in Pink and Orange.

How to Fake a Good Nights Sleep

How to Fake a Good Nights Sleep

    Revive Sleepy Skin:
The quickest and easiest way to hit the refresh button for your skin is free. Just splash cold water on your face. Coolness constricts the blood vessels giving your complexion that smoother, more toned look.
    Seal the Deal:
After the cold water trick, slather on a thick moisturizer to help lock the water into your skin. With a quality face balm, any dryness or flakiness will disappear, and wrinkles will be less obvious.
    Remember to Stretch:
For even more lush, curled lashes, apply two coats of a lengthening mascara. Add a little more in the center above each eyeball for even-looking lashes.
    Blush Brightly:
Blush does wonders for your complexion, and along with mascara will always be one of my essential products. Surprisingly, peach cream blush beats out pink for a good pick-me-up. The peach tones brighten skin and take the focus away from any dark circles under your eyes. Cream formulas are best because they'll leave a slight dew on cheeks for that youthful, flushed look. Dab color on the apples of your cheeks, and blend well. You can also apply some to lips over balm for a soft hint of color.
    Go Lightly:
Heavy foundation or powder will just make dull, sallow skin look worse. Instead, apply your trusty tinted moisturizer (with SPF). It helps even out any blotchiness, but also allows your skin to show through. Apply a second layer or a touch of concealer over any still-apparent dark circles around the eyes.
    Give Locks New Life:
Revive those slept-on strands without starting over by misting your roots with a dry shampoo. Then very briefly blast your roots with a blow-dryer on high heat to help loosen up the powder. Finally, you can apply your fave finishing styler to your strands.
    Open Wide:
An eyelash curler helps perk up your face in a flash. Aim the curler as close to the lashline as possible and give a good 10-second squeeze. Then go over the outer lashes again.
